Sports Direct and JD Sports in the running to buy Nicole Farhi

Mike Ashley is reported to be among the contenders to snap up beleaguered luxury label Nicole Farhi.

The Sports Direct founder and close rival JD Sports Fashion are believed to be part of a large field of interested parties vying to buy the brand out of administration, according to The Sunday Times.

Nicole Farhi collapsed into administration last week after appointing Zolfo Cooper, which is planning to run a sale process of the brand.

Zolfo Cooper has already had more than 50 expressions of interest for the company, with Matalan tycoon John Hargreaves and Edinburgh Woolen Mill also in the running to snap up the label.

Nicole Farhi has six shops and 10 department store concessions alongside its wholesale business.

  • I'm going to give J.D a call to see if they want to buy all my VHS and 8 track cartridges. It would be no worse than some of their other acquisitions.
