Sports Direct may sell more brands as it 'moves upmarket'

Sports Direct could put more of its brands up for sale as part of its strategy to become the ”Selfridges of sports”.

Analysts told The Telegraph that Sports Direct could seek to offload brands including Everlast, Lonsdale and Kangol.

It comes after the retailer sold Dunlop to Japan’s Sumitomo Rubber Industries shortly after Christmas for $137.5m (£112.9m).

Sports Direct founder Mike Ashley bought Dunlop and Slazenger for an estimated £40m in 2004.
