Sports Direct’s non-executive director Charles McCreevy will not stand for re-election at the sportswear giant’s annual general meeting (AGM) on September 10.
The former Irish finance minister joined the board of Sports Direct International on March 31 2011. He is also a director of budget airline RyanAir.
The announcement comes on the same day Mike Ashley withdrew from Sport Direct’s 2015 bonus share scheme which shareholders approved on July 2, despite widespread speculation it could be rejected. Ashely is said to have withdrawn to ensure there is the “maximum number of shares available for the eligible employees”.
Sports Direct’s preliminary results for the full year 2014 will be announced tomorrow (July 17).
