Sports Direct has opened a 49,400 sq ft store in Glasgow that features a USC shop-in-shop.
The store on Argyle Street in the city centre features sportswear, sports equipment and fashion brands from Sports Direct, in addition to branded fashion from USC, including collections from G-Star Raw, Lacoste, Levi’s, Replay, Weekend Offender and Pretty Green.
There is also trading space for other Sports Direct-owned companies including equestrian retailer Robinsons, young fashion mini-chain Pulp and fishing tackle retailer Dragon Carp.
Sports Direct said the new store has created eight managerial roles.
A spokewoman added: “As our company continues to grow throughout the UK, our ethos has never changed in that we offer something for all. Our customers get the biggest brands in all types of sportswear, footwear and sports equipment, as well as fashion brands at our famously low prices.”
The store opening comes days after Sports Direct chairman Keith Hellawell appeared before a Scottish Affairs Committee hearing into the January collapse of West Coast Capital (USC), a Sports Direct-controlled entity that owned 28 stores in the retailer’s USC chain.
