Sportswear brand Tekkers put up for sale

Casual sportswear brand Tekkers has been put up for sale following a shareholder vote.

The brand, founded by ex-footballer Andy Ansah in 2010, was stocked exclusively by JJB Sports until the retailer was sold to Sports Direct in 2012, and is now stocked online by the latter.

Joe Sillett, managing director of Tekkers, told Drapers the brand was trading well, but explained: “We didn’t quite solve the conundrum of bringing the next investor in. We tried wholesaling and etailing, but couldn’t take it to the next level. It would have required more funding.”

He said the brand is looking for a buyer, but would consider a majority shareholding arrangement.

Wholesale prices range from £8 for a T-shirt to £28 for a quilted jacket.
