Spring 11 catwalk season begins at New York Fashion Week

New York Fashion Week kicked off the spring 11 catwalk season yesterday (September 9) with shows from lesser known labels including Nicholas K and Richard Chai.

American designer Richard Chai featured bandeau bras nodding to the lingerie trend while Nicholas K hardened jersey dresses with asymmetric cuts, styled with work boots.

Today will see bigger names such as BCBG Max Azria and the city will also play host to Fashion’s Night Out, the international event led by fashion glossy Vogue, which took place in London on Wednesday.

Looking ahead to the weekend, Derek Lam, Diane Von Furstenberg and Tommy Hilfiger will be taking centre stage on the catwalk, and Michael Kors and DKNY will follow next week.

Drapers will be bringing you coverage of the best shows throughout the upcoming fashion weeks in New York, London, Milan and Paris.
