Young fashion etailer Asos.com is to almost double staff numbers in a bid to grow the business, following a 144% hike in annual profits to £3.4 million.
The business's 128 staff will be increased to about 210 by next March in a bid to capitalise on growth categories such as menswear, which is expanding by 130% year on year.
Buying and merchandising teams will get the greatest investment, with staff levels set to jump from 46 to 83 people. The appointments will be across the board and will include several senior roles, although specific positions have not been outlined.
Asos chief executive Nick Robertson told the City this week that payroll costs would rise from £5.8m to £9m for the year to March 2008.
