Start London to close multi-brand menswear store

Philip Start has confirmed the closure of his multi-brand Start London menswear store in Shoreditch, less than two months after it was announced the nearby womenswear branch would shut.

The lease for the menswear store at 59 Rivington Street expires at the end of July and will not be renewed, Start said.

It follows a decision not to renew the lease on the womenswear store at numbers 42-44 at the end of this month. Both stores will continue to trade until the leases expire or they clear all of the remaining stock, whichever comes first. Start-london.com will cease trading when the stores have closed.

The stores are currently running Sales of up to 50% off. Start predicts the womenswear stock will clear as early as next weekend.

Start founded the multi-brand business in 2002, offering brands including Acne, Kenzo, Comme des Garçons, Nudie Jeans and Maison Margiela.

He said the decision to close the stores would allow him to focus on his own label, Mr Start, which was set up in 2008 and will continue to trade from a shop at 40 Rivington Street.

Start plans to launch a website and additional stores for Mr Start later this year.
