One Small Step has eight stores and four concessions across the UK and Ireland.

Step2wo has concessions in: Harvey Nichols in London, Leeds and Edinburgh; Brown Thomas in Dublin and Cork; Selfridges on Oxford Street and Fenwick’s Brent Cross branch.

In addition to selling its own label footwear in its concessions, Step2wo also stocks brands ranging from Gucci and Armani Junior to Dolce & Gabbana and Ralph Lauren.

Start-rite’s non-executive board member Peter Lamble said: “We have taken the decision to concentrate on our core business and we’re delighted to have sold the business to an accomplished retailer in Step2wo. We look forward to an ongoing trading relationship.”

The Start-rite brand will continue to be sold through One Small Step stores. The stores will be rebranded to Step2wo during 2016.

The move follows the appointment of Ian Watson as Start-rite’s new chief executive earlier this month. Watson replaces Lamble who stepped down as the company’s joint chairman and chief executive after 20 years.
