Stella McCartney to design Team GB 2012 Olympics kit

Adidas, the sports brand and Official Sportswear Partner of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, has appointed British fashion designer Stella McCartney to design its Team GB range for the London 2012 Olympics.

As creative director, she will oversee the design of both the athletes kit and the consumer range for the Adidas Team GB kit. Adidas, as official sponsor, has designed the Team GB kit since 1984.

McCartney will create a range for men and women, set to launch in autumn 2010. She already designs a women’s sports-inspired performance range, Adidas by Stella McCartney, for the brand.

McCartney said: “As a British fashion designer it is an amazing, once in a lifetime opportunity to be creative director of Team GB as the hosting nation of the London 2012 Olympic Games.”

Nick Craggs, marketing director for Adidas, said: “This is the ultimate fusion of performance and style and we are delighted to further our relationship with Stella in this way.”
