Stock worth £50k stolen from Strut

Vintage and contemporary indie Strut and Stroll has had £50,000 worth of stock stolen from its Broadway Market store in London.

The thieves, thought to be three men, broke into the store through a side door late on the evening of Sunday, August 25 and took 90% of the stock, including a Comme des Garçons jacket, a JW Anderson leather jacket and an Alexander McQueen studded bag. The police are investigating.

Owner Tom Weldon said video footage showed the men breaking in. “It’s really bad. They kicked the door down and emptied the shop within 15 minutes. We arrived about five minutes after they left.”

Weldon said the shop was not insured. It is now partially restocked and open again; Weldon said some brands had given it more stock for free or at a reduced price.

Strut and Stroll has three London stores under different fascias – Strut Man and Stroll on Stoke Newington Church Street and Strut Broadway Market.
