Stockists jump on Gola bandwagon as it moves further into US with web launch

Footwear supplier Jacobson Group has doubled its US stockists for Gola and is posed to launch a dedicated US website for the brand, three months after bringing distribution in house.

Gola has 15 independent stockists and has sucured an additional 15 multiples- including Urban Outfitters and Nordstrom- as it looks to focus on chain stores.

Gola was previously distributed in the US by New Jersey- basedby Megablue, whose footwear portfolio includes URoads and La tennis Bensimon.

The group now hopes to bolster further interest in the brand from “respected retailers” through the launch of www.golausa.com.

Jacobson Group managing director Tony Evans said: “We are hopeful the website will increase the profile of the brand, along with all the other activity we do, and we will continue to focus on finding the right wholesale partners who fit with the ethos of the brand.

“The brand’s exposure within the US market has started to increase, and with the launch of the US-specific website the outlook is very positive for Gola in the US.”

Evans also said the company was “well placed” to launch other brands from the Jacobson portfolio in the US market in the future, having recently opened a New York office.

The premises – located in Midtown, Manhattan – is headed up by Charlie Henery, who is spearheading Gola’s venture in the US market.

Barrett Distribution will be a warehouse and logistic partner, and New York-based Omen PR has been appointed to handle public relations for the Gola brand and to increase awareness across the whole of the US.

Evans said he wanted to establish Gola as a “major player”.

He added: “The brand’s penetration in this vitally important marketplace has vastly increased. The right team was imperative for this to be a success, and with the staff we have in place along with the partners we have appointed we have a wealth of experience and knowledge to draw upon.”
