Storm damages Exeter branch of Debenhams

Strong winds over the bank holiday weekend damaged the roof of the Debenhams in Exeter, and part of the city centre was closed off on Monday (March 28) as a result.

The Bedford Square area between Reiss and the back of Debenhams, along with the main shopping arcade, was closed off and patrolled by security teams yesterday, according to The Exeter Express & Echo.

Storm Katie, which swept over the UK at the weekend bringing winds of up to 106mph, caused damage to the department store’s roof and there was a danger of loose materials falling onto shoppers below.
