Summer Sales drive CPI down in June

Clothing and footwear made the most significant downward contributions to the one month change in the Consumer Price Index, according to figures from the Office of National Statistics.

Prices for clothing and footwear fell overall by 1.9% as summer Sales began, with women’s outerwear and footwear seeing the biggest price reductions.

The figures released today (July 12) show inflation in June stood at 4.2%, down from 4.5% the previous month.
