Sunshine and school holidays boost footfall

The warm weather and the start of the school holidays boosted footfall across the UK by 0.5% last week, compared to the same period in 2015.

High streets fared the best during the week to July 30, with footfall up 1.5%. Both retail parks and shopping centres slipped 0.6%, as shoppers took advantage of the good weather by shopping outdoors.

Footfall on high streets in the southeast of England showed the best performance across the UK, up 4.6% year on year, while the West Midlands had the worst, down 1.8%.
