Sunspel is set to open its first standalone store in the US next month, in New York’s SoHo neighbourhood.
The British heritage brand will open a 1,025 sq ft store at 85 Mercer Street on 1 September, offering both menswear and womenswear, seasonal and core collections.
The brand has a long history in the US – Barney’s New York and Paul Stuart sold Sunspel garments in the 1950s. The new store expands Sunspel’s international retail footprint, which spans London, Berlin and Tokyo.
“In Marylebone, Notting Hill, Tokyo’s Shibuya and Mitte in Berlin, our stores have all had a community-oriented feel with a global sensibility,” said chief executive Nicholas Brooke. “Soho offers Sunspel the best of both worlds — a neighbourhood feel with the popularity, traffic, and interest of a major international shopping district. Our New York store offers a window to Sunspel’s world.”
