Superdry enlists former Burberry and Debenhams execs

Superdry is drafting in Dennis Millard as its new senior independent director and former Burberry chief operating officer (COO) John Smith is joining as non-executive director.

Millard was senior independent director at Debenhams until January this year. He is currently chairman at Halfords and deputy chairman and senior independent director of Pets at Home.

Smith was previously COO at Burberry until June this year. Before that, he was chief executive of BBC Worldwide for eight years until 2012.

The board appointments at SuperGroup, which operates the Superdry brand, will take effect from 1 February.

Millard will be appointed to the nomination and remuneration committees at the company, while Smith will join the remuneration and audit committees.

Millard will replace current senior independent director Keith Edelman, who is stepping down from the role. He will remain a non-executive director.
