Superdry to double Silverburn store

Young fashion retailer Superdry is to double the size of its store at Glasgow shopping centre Silverburn as the centre continues to expand.

The chain will upsize its Silverburn branch to a 7,592 sq ft store during the summer, making it a regional flagship.

The news is the latest milestone for Silverburn, which achieved planning consent for a 200,000 sq ft leisure extension earlier this year. It also secured seven new retail brands in 2012 including the first Van Mildert in Scotland and a branch of lingerie chain Boux Avenue.

Julian Dunkerton, chief executive of Superdry parent company SuperGroup, said: “We are delighted to be opening our new regional brand flagship at Silverburn. The store will contain some of the key elements from Regent Street and will really bring the Superdry brand to life.”

Last week the young fashion business revealed that sales had risen by 14.7% in the year to April 28 as the business expanded retail space in the UK and beyond.

Retail like-for-likes rose 6.9% - an improvement on 2012’s flat performance.
