SuperGroup has appointed former Co-op boss Euan Sutherland as its new chief executive as Julian Dunkerton moves into the newly created role of founder and product and brand director.
Sutherland, who headed up the supermarket from April 2013 to March 2014, has been a non-executive director of SuperGroup for the last two years and will take on the role of chief executive with immediate effect.
He will be responsible for growing the business internationally while Dunkerton and co-founder James Holder will focus on developing the company’s product ranges and protecting the IP of the Superdry brand.
Peter Bamford, chairman at SuperGroup, said Sutherland has the “stature, skills, experience and personal style to work in partnership with Julian and lead the team through the next stage of the company’s development”.
Dunkerton added: “With the number of opportunities SuperGroup has available and the increasing complexity of the business, now is the right time to bring in a chief executive of Euan’s calibre. Having worked with him on the board for two years, I am certain our skills will be complementary and look forward to delivering the continued growth of the Superdry brand together.”
