SuperGroup mulls acquiring US licence

SuperGroup, owner of young fashion brand Superdry, is looking to buy back its US licence.

Management is understood to have told investors it plans to buy back its US licence, although an acquisition is not expected in the short term, the Telegraph has reported.

It is understood that the potential purchase of its US licence is a long-term option.

SuperGroup, headed by Julian Dunkerton, last month snapped up long-term Scandinavian distributor SMAC Group for an undisclosed sum. The deal followed an acquisition of its German franchise partner and Spanish distributors the previous year.

In its latest results, it reported a 3.1% drop in like-for-likes for the 12 weeks to April 26. Total group sales rose 12.4% to £97.8m.
