Surfdome drafts in ecommerce chief

Online department store has appointed Jon Lane as head of eCommerce.

Lane comes to the etailer from web retail giants Amazon and He will bolster Surfdome’s senior management team and will manage the store’s fast growth strategy.

Lane is credited with setting up Amazon’s VAT-free website Amazon Jersey, before moving to in 2007 where he became business development manager and later head of business intelligence.

Surfdome said his appointment is an indication of its sharpened focus on European and international expansion.

Managing director Justin Stone said Lane fit the company’s “ambitious culture”. He said: “The opportunities that currently exist online are super exciting and we’ll keep building the team to make sure we deliver on these.” 

As head of ecommerce Lane will work closely with the web development, buying and marketing departments to strengthen strategies, manage projects and monitor web use and online growth.

Surfdome stocks more than 490 brands, with product lines ranging from toddlers to adults.
