Surfwear brand Saltrock rides into The Range

Devon-based lifestyle brand Saltrock Surfwear is launching into homeware and garden retailer The Range.

A collection of Saltrock’s six bestselling T-shirt lines for men and women will initially be stocked in 20 The Range shops from this week. If the trial is successful the brand wants to roll out to 100 The Range shops later this year.

The brand also wants to extend the range stocked to hoodies in the autumn.

Stephen Harvey, Saltrock’s interim chief executive and chief financial officer, said: “Once the trial has been successful, we would naturally want to extend [the clothing lines offered]. We are confident that the Saltrock product range will work well the customer base of The Range.”

Saltrock currently has 40 shops.

The company was founded in Cornwall in 1988 by brothers Ross and Angus Thomson. It fell into administration in 2010 following a tough trading period after the recession and was bought back by a consortium of investors led by ex-Citigroup banker James Brent and Devon businessman Alan Bassett in a pre-pack administration.

The Range was established in Plymouth in 1989 and has more than 130 stores nationwide.
