Tesco boss heads to M&S

Marks & Spencer has poached Tesco’s head of merchandising Cathy Haydon, ahead of a rejig of its management team.
Sources told Drapers that M&S is on the brink of announcing internal structural changes to its clothing teams, which will see Haydon take on the role of head of merchandising for womenswear.

Haydon, who was assistant merchandise director at Bhs before joining Tesco last year, oversees merchandising across the supermarket’s entire clothing business. She declined to comment on her new role, but confirmed she was leaving the supermarket group.

Tesco head of clothing Terry Green said: “I’m sorry that Cathy is leaving for personal reasons, but we wish her all the best.”
Haydon’s departure follows the resignation of Tesco design boss Lee Rees-Oliviere, who left to launch his own collection (Drapers, November 17).

M&S declined to comment.
