Tesco boss’s bonus under review

Tesco chief Dave Lewis has revealed that his bonus package is under review by senior non-executives, as he fights to turn around the supermarket’s fortunes following the recent accounting scandal.

Lewis told the Mail on Sunday he joined Tesco on a package similar to his predecessor Phil Clarke, but his bonuses are now being reviewed by senior non-executives.

It comes after the supermarket chain revealed its profits in the first half of the year were overstated by £263m – £13m more than last month’s initial estimate – and chairman Sir Richard Broadbent announced he will step down.

Lewis will earn £1.25m in salary and £525,000 a year in lieu of pension, as well as any bonuses.
