Tesco director Patrick Cescau to step down

Tesco director Patrick Cescau has become the fifth non-executive director at the troubled supermarket chain to confirm he will leave this year.

Cescau is a senior independent director and chair of the nominations committee who led the overhaul of senior management at Tesco, which included replacing chief executive Philip Clarke with former Unilever boss Dave Lewis, as well as hiring former Barretts developments chairman John Allan as the new chairman.

Tesco said in a statement that he will retire from the board on April 7.
