Tesco drops off list of world's most valuable brands

Tesco has fallen off the world’s 100 most valuable brands list compiled by research agency Millward Brown.

The report, which balances brand power with financial performance, concluded the supermarket chain’s brand value has fallen 37% in the past year.

Chinese ecommerce company Alibaba, which owns online marketplace Tmall, made its debut on the list at number 13 – making it the highest-ranking retail firm. Amazon is the next highest at 14.

The top clothing business is Nike at number 28, followed by Zara at 42.
