Tesco has launched Peacocks and Sports Direct shop-in-shops in two stores in Hungary
The supermarket chain’s Váci út store near Budapest features shop-in-shops from Peacocks, Sports Direct and German young fashion retailer Street One, while the Tesco Székesfehérvár features a shop-in-shop from Peacocks.
A spokesman for Tesco said: “As a result of partnerships with Sports Direct and Peacocks we have created shops-within-shops in two Tesco Hungary stores. It is the first time we have put shop-in-shops on the shop floor in a Tesco store.”
He added that the introduction of Peacocks complements the retailer’s existing range of clothing under the F&F brand.
Philip Day, chief executive of Peacocks owner Edinburgh Woollen Mill Group, told Drapers’ sister publication Retail Week the company would look for further sites in Hungary and also in Germany, either through standalone stores or as Tesco concessions.
Retail Week reported that Peacocks may be in talks with Tesco to launch its fashion offer in Tesco’s UK stores, although Tesco denied this.
The two retailers have an existing relationship as Peacocks has leased space for a store in a shopping centre owned by Tesco in Coventry.
