Tesco sees non-food growth slow

Tesco saw group sales rise 13.7% for the 13 weeks ended May 24, but non-food growth has slowed.

Tesco saw a 9.4% rise in UK sales, which equated to a like-for-like sales hike of 3.5% excluding petrol.

Tesco said it had scored strong gains in market share across its non-food business but that the rate of growth in non-food had eased because of consumer caution. However Tesco added that its strong competitive position meant that its non-food growth remained significantly stronger than the wider market.
