Tesco to axe ‘hundreds of jobs’

Struggling supermarket giant Tesco is tipped to sack hundreds of back office staff this week as the fallout over the business’s profits scandal continues.

The cost-cutting will see jobs cut at Tesco headquarters in Cheshunt, Hertfordshire, and the closure of some regional offices, according to The Mirror.

The news follows the suspension of eight executives and the launch of an investigation by the Serious Fraud Office amid claims Tesco overstated half-year profits by £263m.
