The appeal of standing out from the crowd

We’ve had a fantastic response to the autumn 09 season online at www.havetolove.com as well as in store; we are already selling out of most styles. Our customers are desperate to cheer their winter wardrobe up with gorgeous products and we take great pleasure in selling each item.

Suppliers have pulled out all the stops this season and delivered aesthetically pleasing and good quality products. The winter wardrobe should be bright and colourful, with hues of purples to fuchsias alongside monochrome, and not forgetting the sequin and embellished 1980s-inspired items. We are thrilled about the ranges and have had a fantastic response on the shopfloor. Knitwear has been an excellent seller already for us this season.

I had a hard time cutting my orders down for this season and will have the same problem next season, as my suppliers have made so many products special yet easy to sell for this season and next. Maybe this is because there is so much competition out there and with the state of the economy suppliers need to offer that edge to attract buyers to single out their collections. This ethos is certainly reflected on the shopfloor.

Because disposable income is tighter than before for everyone, it is vitally important for us as a retailer to offer products that make us stand out from the crowd. The public need cheering up and with lower disposable incomes every product has to have aesthetic appeal. Together with our personal service our product has been a major factor in Havetolove being shortlisted for Company magazine’s fashion awards and most notably the Drapers Womenswear Retailer of the year.
