The Brandery trade show pulled in 9,715 visitors and 113 exhibitors for its first event last week, mainly from Southern Europe.
The young fashion trade show, which took place in Barcelona’s Fira exhibition centre on July 7-9, was launched to fill the gap left when the Bread and Butter trade show returned to Berlin this season.
Over half of the exhibitors at the Brandery were Spanish brands, with the 45% of overseas exhibitors made up largely of Italian and French companies.
Pere Camprubí, expansion director for Fira Barcelona and manager of The Brandery, said: “This was a very different show from when Bread and Butter was in Barcelona. We are more fashion led and have more emerging brands. The main market for us is the Mediterranean and most of our visitors were from Southern Europe.”
He added: “I am happy considering we only had three months to prepare but I predict the show will double in size by next July.”
Exhibitors reported a quiet show but on the whole also expressed confidence that the event would grow next year.
Eva Garcia, global communications manager for Desigual, said: “It was hard to prepare in just three months. Most of the buyers we have seen are Spanish, with a few French and Italians but I think that market will develop as the show grows.”
