The Cords & Co launches crowdfunding campaign

Corduroy label The Cords & Co is launching a crowdfunding campaign as it seeks to become the leading brand for the material.

The campaign will launch on 28 March on the FundedByMe crowdfunding platform and will last 30 days and hopes to raise €2.5m (£2.2m).

The Cords & Co has pursued an aggressive expansion programme since launching on 24 August.

The brand is stocked in seven countries and has its own ecommerce site. The Cords & Co has also opened 6 flagship stores, including one in London.

Mikael Söderlindh, co-founder of The Cords & Co, said: “We have a disruptive approach to everything we do and besides raising funds for our journey ahead, we also see crowdfunding as an opportunity to grow our business by engaging with passionate people who truly believe in our mission and wants to be part of our community.

“We believe that is the only way to build brands these days. You cannot do it all on your own. You need to create lasting relationships with people who are as passionate about your brand as you are, who can be fully committed brand ambassadors.”

Another co-founder of The Cords & Co is Carl Manneh, who also set up Mojang, the company behind the popular Minecraft computer game.

Manneh added: “It is not like your average fashion brand for many reasons. I don’t have a fashion background, and to be honest – I don’t know much about the industry.

“But what I do have is a passion for building things I believe in and I have also learnt to recognised good ideas when they come my way.”
