The Dubai Mall, the world's largest shopping centre, finally opened its doors after several delays today.

Some 600 retailers, including 165 shops which are new to the region or which are opening their first standalones in the territory, have opened within the centre today.

The Dubai Mall, which has been developed by Emaar Malls Group, is more than 12 million sq ft with a gross leasable area of 3.7m sq ft. Some 30% of the space has begun trading today.

Retailers which have signed stores at the centre include Galeries Lafayette, Bloomingdales, Ted Baker, Kurt Geiger, Waitrose and Hamleys.

The Dubai Mall is located in the Downtown Burj Dubai development, just off Interchange One on Sheikh Zayed Road.
