The Hut Group to open offices and DC in Poland

Fast-growing online retailer The Hut Group opening a new 665,210 sq ft logistics and production facility in Poland, in a bid to boost its European offering.

The new centre will be The Hut Group’s first project in the country. The development marks a broader foray into continental Europe, having previously sold and distributed products to the region for “a number of years”.

The Hut Group also operates a distribution centre in Warrington in the UK and one in Kentucky in the US. The Polish development will be its third.

Logistics and warehousing developer Goodman Group has partnered with the etailer on the facility. It will host production and logistics operations as well as 37,670 sq ft of integrated office space.

It will be located near the city of Wrocław in western Poland.

Matthew Moulding, founder and CEO of The Hut Group, said: “The Hut Group’s new facility in Europe will offer us faster, more efficient access to almost 300 million online shoppers.

“We chose Wrocław as the location for our new facility for a number of reasons: the city’s excellent road infrastructure and flight connections with the UK, its proximity to the crucial German and Central European customer base, as well as the excellent pool of employees from Lower Silesia.

“Alongside our European [office] hub in Berlin (taken on after acquiring cosmetics business GlossyBox last year), it offers a strong presence from which to serve our European customers faster.”

Construction of the new warehouse started in October. It is expected to complete in late 2018.
