The Modern Draper to expand

Menswear independent The Modern Draper is set to open a second store in its home town of Beverley, East Yorkshire.

The new 800 sq ft store, which is scheduled to open for autumn 19, will focus on outdoor lifestyle, sportswear, workwear and streetwear. It will stock brands such as Dickies, Carhartt, Fjällräven, Champion and Vans.

The existing Beverley store, will instead offer denim, heritage brands, premium footwear and contemporary lifestyle labels such as Nigel Cabourn, Norse Projects, APC, Veja and John Smedley.

The new venture is being entirely self-funded by the retailer, which will celebrate its two-year anniversary next month.

Revenue grew 40% from the autumn 17 season to autumn 18.

Founder Chris Terry said: “Despite what you hear about the state of the high street, we seem to be doing well in our part of the world. We pride ourselves on offering a contemporary product with old-fashioned service. Our challenge will be to retain that as we grow as a business.”
