A round up of the best fashion business stories from the weekend’s newspapers.

  • The cost of clothing is set to rise next spring for the first time in a generation, The Sunday Times reported. Budget retailers, including Primark, said prices could go up by as much as 5% because of the rise in transport costs, the weakness of the sterling and the increase in VAT to 20% in January.
  • The internet retailer Hut Group is preparing for a stock market floatation early next year, the Observer reported. The retailer launched last week and also and in the past three months.
  • The Independent on Sunday reported that fashion house Gucci is to take legal action against Elisabetta Gucci, the great-granddaughter of the founder, after she announced plans to launch a worldwide chain of stores in her name.
