Theory chief executive dies age 60

The global chief executive of contemporary US brand Theory has died of stomach cancer at the age of 60.

Ricky Sasaki, who was in Tokyo at the time of his death, started his career in the early 70s at textile manufacturer Takihyou rising through the ranks before moving on to become chief executive of WHK Holdings in 1980, working with brands such as Anne Klein and Kenneth Cole. In 1999 he began working with Theory.

Sasaki is survived by five children.

Contemporary brand Theory has two standalone stores in the UK on London’s Marylebone High Street and Westbourne Grove as well as outlet store in Bicester Village. The brand also operates 10 concessions in stores such as Selfridges, Harrods and Harvey Nichols.
