Timberland Takes Back UK Rights to SmartWool

Timberland has taken back the UK rights to distribute SmartWool products.

An agreement has been reached between Timberland and Edinburgh-based outdoor distributor Anatom to transfer the SmartWool brand distribution rights in the UK and Ireland to Timberland. The agreement is effective from January 1 2008.

Anatom had distributed the SmartWool brand exclusively for the six years but its contract was due to expire at the end of the year.

Timberland acquired the SmartWool brand in 2005.

Lindsey Hayes, vice president of worldwide sales at Timberland's Outdoor Group said: "The partnership with Anatom was a great foundation for the future of the SmartWool brand by transferring the distribution of SmartWool in-house it provides us with many opportunities. We intend to offer the same strong service that dealers have come to expect from SmartWool products."
