Timeline: A year in the life of Republic

As young fashion chain Republic enters administration, Drapers takes a look back at the last year at the retailer.

January 2012 - Republic co-founder Carl Brewins steps back from day-to-day involvement in the business after 26 years.

February 2012 - Plans unveiled to relaunch its website as part of a £7.3m investment in IT infrastructure as it seeks multichannel growth.

March 2012 – Former TK Maxx boss Paul Sweetenham joined as chief executive.

April 2012American Apparel added to Republic’s brand mix.

June 2012 – Republic steps up its footwear offer with the launch of dedicated branded footwear departments in 25 of its larger stores.

July 2012 –  The young fashion chain makes a series of new hires and rolls out three new own-brands.

September 2012 – Republic debuts a refreshed look at its new Leeds store.

October 2012 -Chairman Andy Bond informs business of his intention to leave.

January 2013 -Republic mulls store closures.

February 2013 - Chairman Andy Bond leaves

February 2013 - Republic collapses into administration, resulting immediately in 150 redundancies and raising doubts over a further 2,350.
