Tokyo Laundry branches into womenswear

Men’s young fashion brand Tokyo Laundry is to expand its offering to include womenswear for spring 2013.

The collection features sweats, jogging bottoms, fine gauge knits and lightweight jackets with a “heritage lifestyle feel”.  Wholesale prices start from £3.75 for t-shirts, sweats at £7.95 and range through to £14.50 for lined knitwear.

The menswear range launched in 2011 and is stocked in 50 retailers including New Look and River Island.

Rohit Passi, Tokyo Laundry’s managing director, said: “Many of our stockists are multi gender retailers and our growth over the past five years can now facilitate the enormous demand we’ve had from independents to broaden our offer to include a capsule womenswear collection for spring 13.”

He added: “We’re going to do this by staying true to Tokyo Laundry’s values and recreating the same demand from female consumers as we’ve had from our menswear collections.”
