Tom Ford poaches designers for womenswear line

Designer Tom Ford is understood to be putting together a design team for his eponymous womenswear line.

Ford has poached Caroline Tixier, a women’s ready-to-wear designer at Givenchy, and Pablo Coppola, an accessories designer at Alexander McQueen, according to WWD.

Ford and his business partner Domenico De Sole declined to comment.

It is believed that Ford will debut the womenswear range in autumn 2011 in Milan or New York.

WWD also reported that Ford is in talks about launching exclusives with key retail partners.

Ford and De Sole launched the Tom Ford brand in 2005, one year after they left PPR-owned Gucci Group.

In 2006, Ford signed a licensing agreement with the Ermenegildo Zegna Group for the production and distribution of a Tom Ford men’s collection, and now has standalone boutiques, franchises and shop-in-shops around the world.
