Tommy Hilfiger signs Rafael Nadal as ambassador

US brand Tommy Hilfiger has tapped 14-time Grand Slam tennis champion Rafael Nadal as a global ambassador for its refreshed underwear range and its ‘Tailored’ collection for autumn 15.

The Spanish athlete will appear in campaign imagery - to be photographed early next year - in print, online and on out-of-home media such as billboards. He will also attend brand launch events in North America, Europe and Asia.

Tommy Hilfiger said it has introduced new fits, fabrics and details to its underwear line, which includes boxer shorts, boxer briefs and briefs, for Nadal’s debut season.

Founder Tommy Hilfiger said: “[Nadal] has been a longtime personal friend and supporter of our brand, and I’m continuously inspired by his dedication and passion for his sport. This exclusive partnership brings one of the greatest athletes of this generation into our Tommy family. Rafael embodies an effortless sense of style that exemplifies and reflects our brand spirit – he’s confident, fun and cool.”

Nadal, who has won the French, Australian and US opens, Wimbledon and a 2008 Olympic gold medal, was previously the face of Emporio Armani Underwear and Armani Jeans.
