Hundreds of shoppers were evacuated from Topshop’s Oxford Street flagship on Saturday after a fire broke out at the store.
The London Fire Brigade attended the 90,000 sq ft building at around 3:30pm in response to the raised alarm.
The fire is believed to have started in the Office store in the basement of Topshop. The retailer said an investigation into the cause is underway.
Shoppers were led to the streets behind the shop and many took to social media to post their reactions.
Twitter user Mark Wake said: “Went to #topshop #Oxfordstreet only to see a fire break out on display lights in its shoes department.”
A spokeswoman for Topshop described the incident as “contained” and said were no injuries. No stock was damaged.
The Nike shop next door was also evacuated, but both reopened after about an hour.
