Topshop halts Chinese franchise partnership

Topshop/Topman has terminated its Chinese franchise partnership with Shangpin.

The Arcadia-owned retailer said the decision to call time on the deal was a “mutual agreement”.

Chinese shoppers will continue to be able to buy products via and, and can shop Topshop and Topman products via the Shangpin website and until 30 November.

A spokesman for said: “British fashion brands Topshop/Topman and Chinese franchise partner Shangpin have reached a mutual agreement to an early termination. Topshop/Topman and Shangpin have enjoyed a successful working relationship since September 2014.

“Topshop/Topman considers China a hugely significant market for development. The company is currently exploring opportunities to further grow the brands in China.”
