Touker Suleyman eyes parts of Austin Reed

Touker Suleyman, owner of menswear brand Hawes & Curtis and womenswear label Ghost, is among those circling parts of Austin Reed following its collapse into administration last month.

Suleyman confirmed his interest yesterday, the Guardian reported, saying: “Yes, parts of the [Austin Reed] business are on my radar.”

Suleyman also owns womenswear design and wholesale business Low Profile, which supplies retailers including Marks & Spencer. Low Profile owns manufacturing sites in Turkey, Georgia and Bulgaria.

Austin Reed Group – which includes the eponymous chain and womenswear retailers Viyella and CC – collapsed into administration at the end of last month putting 1,184 jobs at risk. The group operates around 150 stores and concessions.

Administrators have reportedly received more than 50 expressions of interest in the business. However, it is thought it could be broken up and the womenswear businesses sold separately.
