Trade show to create 'Chinese Bread & Butter'

Chinese young fashion trade show Chic is to emulate Berlin trade show Bread & Butter with its next edition in the hope of attracting over 100 international brands and designers.

The China International Clothing and Accessories Fair (Chic) is yet to disclose its list of attendees but is believed to want to showcase sports and streetwear brands such as Adidas, Nike and Lacoste, as well as denim brands Levi’s and Wrangler.

The average spending power of the Chinese shopper is soaring as the country’s economy grows, providing opportunities for international brands and retailers in the region.

The organisers of the event - the Peking Convention and Exhibition Company, China World Trade Centre and Peking Fashion Expo - will use some of the elements that made Bread & Butter the toast of the trade shows.

Like Bread & Butter, Chic will be split in to sections such as Sport & Street, Denim Force, Tasty Must-Haves and Urban Soul. The upcoming edition is dubbed ‘Young Blood’ and will aim to combine business with ‘having fun’.

Chic will take place from September 27 to 29 at the National Agricultural Exhibition Centre in Beijing.

Established in 1993, Chic has an exhibition area of 100,000 sq m with over 100,000 visitors and more than 1,000 brands.
