Italian footwear show Micam got of to a slow start this week according to exhibitors.
The economic downturn appears to have affected visitor numbers and heavy rain in Milan also appears to have affected domestic attendance at the fair.
The sales manager of one footwear brand said: “We had appointments booked in so it has been steady, but the overall the show seems very quiet.”
Micam served up little in the way of new trends although points of interest are visible with contrast suede and patent uppers, penny loafer uppers on heeled constructions and slouchy demi-cowboy boot styles on show.
Commerical style in the way of fringing, chukka boots and shoe boots remain a staple for autumn 09.
For a full trend report see next weeks’ issue of Drapers magazine.
Micam closes on March 7.
