Trade slows at Bread & Butter, but indie turnout is high

Momentum at Bread & Butter show in Barcelona has slowed this morning, despite an opportunistic start to the show yesterday. However, more retailers from the UK are expected to arrive this afternoon.

Although trade was slow on a lot of the stands belonging to the larger UK brands yesterday, the turn out of buyers from independents has been higher than expected. Buyers from stores including Fate, Bristol, Brookes Menswear, Hole, Union Clothing, Huntingdon, USC, Republic, John Lewis and House of Fraser are out in force.

Interesting trends at the show include gold leaf detailing on logos and trims, along with the resurgence of light and stone wash denim. Windcheater and trench coats dominate outerwear with a retro 1980's revival still playing out.

However, the overall trend picture has not moved on that much from spring 08.
