Triumph moves distribution centre to France

Lingerie firm Triumph has announced that it will shift its distribution services from Swindon to its own distribution centre in Obernai, France this June, in a move that could affect up to 70 jobs.

Triumph UK’s decision to move distribution in-house comes as part of a cost-cutting and efficiency drive, and will “in no way disrupt our service to our wholesale or retail channels,” according to managing director Sheila Hamilton.

Triumph is the main client of the distributor, operated by international logistics firm Menlo. While there is no confirmation of job losses as yet, redundancies are expected.

According to the Swindon Advertiser, bosses at Menlo told employees their jobs would cease to exist as of June 9.

Local MP Justin Tomlinson said: “This is very worrying and distressing news for the employees, and myself and Robert Buckland MP will endeavour to secure clarification from the company.”
