Troubled Logo closes stores

Young fashion chain Logo has closed a handful of stores, amid speculation of difficult trading.
The company, which claims on its website to have 23 stores across the UK, is understood to have closed up to nine shops in high-profile sites, including at the Bullring in Birmingham and Meadowhall in Sheffield, prompting speculation about the future of the business.

Logo Fashions said in a statement that parent company Gorham Trading had made an application to appoint a liquidator, but said that this would “not affect Logo’s ability to continue its business and meet its obligations to creditors”.

Among the stores to have closed are three shops in Edinburgh, one in Glasgow and one in Belfast. It is also understood to have shut two outlet stores, in Manchester and North Shields, Tyne & Wear.

Industry sources told Drapers that Logo had been under pressure because of high rents. The retailer also has concessions in eight Mackays stores.
